All I want is an AMEX Classic. AMEX seems to pull Exp. in my area. MY Exp. score is 630 (CreditExpert). I have 1 open collection, 1 paid collection, and 1 60 day derog, and 8 good accounts.

Does anyone know what exactly AMEX wants?

    Thanks for the advice

I don't think anybody here knows exactly what AMex looks for in approval for the Green.

For what I can gather from past posts and my own experience.

A FICO closer to 700s (680 on the low side?). Very few inquires. No dergos. Established perfect cc payment history for at least 2 years.

I'm sure others can add to this. Amex may pull other CR, depending on where you live. As they pull Transunion the last time I applied (and denied).

    Best regards,
    Sam

from experience, lose the negatives, don't apply for anything, and you'll be set. They shoot me down for a single derog from 96' ($0 balance even).

KITTW1 used to come to this board. She said she had some insight about getting an AMEX. Perhaps she can enlighten us all. KITTW1, if you are out there, give us some help with AMEX.

    Something interesting as a follow-up:

    This is taken from cardratings.org,

"AmEx Unsecured Updated 7/01! Site sponsor. The standard AmEx "green card" has a great reputation among consumers that are seeking to establish credit or rebuild their credit. You will not incur any finance or interest charges since you are required to pay your bill in full each month. Annual fee of $55. Includes many benefits. Reports to credit bureaus."

Note the "rebuild your credit" part! Seems not to be true, eh?

    ...rebuild their credit...

In AMEX speak...maybe you PAID OFF ALL YOUR CREDIT INCLUDING MORTGAGE (years ago) and have to "REBUILD" your credit???
