    Anybody know what the "Status Date" is that reports on the Experian CR that MyFico offers?

    It seems to correspond with the DOLA a bit, however I just had a collection accounts Status Date change from 2/2000 to 3/2004

    If it is the DOLA, then Experian or the CA has reaged the account.

    Can I sue over this?

    You just stepped into a very big question and debate. But first, as for suing, you can always try.

    The "status date" is supposed to be the dates that your account "changed", or went to its current "status" (i.e.-30, 60 days late, charged off, etc.).

    But...it often gets reported as the "status as of the reporting date", as yours is now being reported. Each month it will change.

    You can dig into this and ask both the original creditor, and CRA, certain questions;

    "What is the date of "Last ACtivity", when did the account go negative, and never recover?

    "When is the tradeline scheduled to come off, what is date of 7 year SOL for reporting.

    For example, I was just successful in having a neg removed for this reason (incorrect reporting of status date)by threatening to sue. BUT...I threatened to sue for failure to follow process of validation and verification, AND failure to report date of deliquency.

    I had been advised to sue both creditor and CRA to let them sort it out (as both swore they were reporting correctly!!)

    So, follow the 1-2 punch dispute process to the letter, let them make mistakes, and then pursue deletion for failure to follow FCRA laws.
