I recently sent a DV letter to a CA for a debt that appears on my Equifax and TranUnion credit reports. Their reponse is as folllows: This letter is to inform you that the above referenced account has been returned to our client and is no longer assigned to this agency... the above referenced account is NOT listed on your credit report...if this item should appear on your credit report please contact this office.. Should I respond to this letter or should I contact the original creditor? Thankyou!
Okay.... so I should send a debt dispute letter to both CRA's? I can use one of the debt dispute letters from this website, right? Thanks again
They've already said they're taking it off. Why not wait a week, and if it's still there, forward a copy of the letter to the CRAs?
All the CA said was that it is not listed on the credit report and if it should appear on the credit report I should contact them. Does that mean that they're removing it? Please explain and thankyou!
Actually, and I almost hate to say this, but mycroft was half right, IMO. You should fax the letter stating it isn't on your reports to the cra's that show it. They should remove it within a week. If you wait for the ca to do it, the cra will take 30 to 90 days to remove it.
Re: Re: What's the next step? I know it hurts the first time, but you'll get used to it and come to love it.
