What's the status of FCNB?

Does anyone know the current status of FCNB? I know they were trying to locate a buyer and now it appears they are no longer accepting applications on their website?

For those who have accounts with them...have you heard anything? Are they still granting credit limit increases?

I requested a credit line increase about 4 days ago and haven't heard anything from them yet. I didn't know they were in trouble, either. Can you tell me more about this?

I had to call them to give them my change of address yesterday. I asked what the deal was. The rep told me they are no longer planning to sale.

Ok, I requested a credit line increase about 4 days ago via the web. I just called today to find out the results, and the rep told me that they didn't approve the request because the bank is no longer offering unsecured credit to secured cardholders post March 18, 2002. So she said that I'm stuck with a $225 limit secured card that the APR is 19.9% on. I'm cutting up this card as we speak, and paying it off completely. I've been toying with the idea of that for a while now, but they just confirmed my decision today.

OH, one more thing, there isn't any product you can transfer the balance to, or any other product they will offer. So, do what you must.

    Erica,

I requested the limit increase for my Eddie Bauer Mastercard and they increased to $3250. They pulled hard inquriy on my Equifax report. I still have the card and I didn't use that much.

    Eric,

I had FCNB secured MC and Visa two years ago and I didn't request my limit increase. They just give 2 to 3 times of my deposit offer from time to time. They finally unsecured two yrs ago and they increased my limit, unsecured the account without asking. Secured MC was $1900 and secured Visa was $4580. They pulled soft inquiries on my Equifax from time to time.

I work for a service provider for several credit counseling companies. We were notified this month that FCNB's Spiegel accounts were sold to a company known as FACS Group. There were no plans for sale of their other accounts.

FACS Group is a subsidiary of Federated Department Stores.

I have their secured MC ($500 Deposit=$1,000 CL) and have used it regularly and paid faithfully. I have had it for 13 months now and am waiting to see if I either get a CL increase and/or a return of deposit.

That is interesting....I noticed an AR on my credit report from FACS/Macy's. I do have a Macy's account as well.
I have FCNB only for my Spiegel account. This has been paid off for some time. I had forgotten that I signed up for a magazine subscription and I guess it is billed this month. Anyway, got the bill and tossed it aside figuring I didn't owe them money. A couple days ago it occured to me they must owe me or must think I owe them money if they sent me a bill. So I opened it and saw the charge on there. Payment was due next day. Signed up on line hoping I could hurry up and pay it (no such luck) but I did notice that it had my credit limit and then it said "available cash 0.00" I thought that was wierd, I was never aware of any cash advances available on this card. Anyhow...I made the payment via my home banking and I will just have to eat the late charge for being so dim. So I checked back today to make sure the payment got them. Well now it says "available cash 750.00" . Anybody know what is up with that????
