I was just lurking, and now I'm a bit confused. I don't want to stir up trouble, but what's the deal? I found all the letters that are posted here, but they are all considered a joke, and any one of us that uses them is stupid. There are derogatory references to specific people on this message board. I don't get it. I was going to write a letter, but am now thinking twice. That's ok, I'm fine with that, but what's up w/ slamming the members of this board? As you can tell, I'm a newbie here and I guess I don't have the scoop. I don't want to use information that's a joke, but I have a hard time believing them when they spend so much time slamming the members here. Is it just a rival thing, or is there some sort of legitimacy in some of what they say???
Hi Tracy...who knows what's up with creditwrench...It's been this ongoing saga that never seems to end. You can probably tell that there isn't any love lost...that's for sure. As far as using Bill Bauer's services go...do what you fee comfortable doing. Some have had success using his program, but it's kind of pricy for $50 for something you can do yourself. What I recommend to you, is doing your own homework, get real comfy with the FDCPA and FCRA and do as much as you can on your own. Between your own noggin and this board, you will accomplish a lot. Do as much as you can on your own and enlist the help of organizations if all else fails.
rblues said it right. Bill always has something interesting to say, some of that was very worthwhile and stirred up good discussions, some of it was contreversial and caused a ruckus with a few "past members" and a few remaining members . Some of it was complete drivel. Also some of his battles were not over his input, but rather some kind of inert ability he had to offend others. Take EVERYTHING you read on the web (this board included) with a grain of salt and use your noggin (as rblues said). That is the best litmus test. -Peace, Dave
Bill Bauer/Creditwrench was the cause of why creditmania.com's discussion board was wiped clean (allegedly). Him and all his stuipd replies, mostly trying to advertise his Creditwrench program which from many people say is a rip-off.
It was "BASICALLY"~~~"MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY"... His PRIME reason for posting anywhere, is to ADVERTISE...
I have no intentions of paying for his services, I was just looking around. Actually, I had bookmarked a letter that was posted on this board, and it led to that board. I was reading it, and was surprised to see particular people attacked. These are people that I have found to be very helpful on this board. When it is handled that way, I find it very hard to believe a lot of what I read over there. Since there was such a lack of professionalism, I wouldn't feel right paying him for his services. I just found it odd, that it was so blatant.
I got my money's worth. Used him for four months. Knocked off some of the toughest tradelines I had (but not all). For a newby trying to figure out which end is up, I wouldn't blame them at all for using Bill's service, and wouldn't be surprised if they were helped very much by it. But, as was already said, once you have a feel for the process, you can do it just fine yourself. That said, I have to admit that I just got Chevron to change an old account from paid chargeoff to paid as agreed using Bill's Knockout Letter (combined with Doc's Nutcase letter and my own rantings). I wrote about it (and posted the letter) in another thread. Just changed on CE this morning, raising my score 40 points). Bill posted that letter free on his site. He's an odd duck, but I've gotten a lot of help from him.
I got absolutely nothing from the "program" and have been quite unhappy with it. I agree that a newbie might benefit more than someone who had done most of their work already. I don't think a newbie couldn't get exactly the same thing here, however. I posted also in the other thread but feel it is wiser to be a bit more forthcoming with my experience so that others can make informed decisions regarding the "program."
Mr. Bauer spends a lot of time monitoring this board considering he has such a low opinion of it. The man has some good ideas, but he's also paranoid. Gib
Ever since I posted a mixed review of his service, about a month ago, Bill no longer will reply to my postings on his website. Even a thank you I posted the other day after I successfully used his Knockout letter (combined with Doc's Nutcase letter and my own secret sauce), which I wrote about here, got no response. I Guess I'm persona non grata at Creditwrench.com now. Whatever.
Well, I've read everything and I'm still confuse as to exact steps... I think I'll be looking into it.
Welcome Gatordeb! Trust me when I tell you, after one month here, you have not read everything. Not even close. Start here. Ask lots of questions. If you don't get an answer right away, ask again by "bump"ing your post (replying to your own post, usually with the word "bump" to denote that you are moving it back to the top of the pile because you are still looking for an answer. People get busy and sometimes don't spot a particular post the first time through.
But what if you ask, they answer, and you still don't get it? Sigh. I'm not that hopeless in real life, I swear
You'd be surprised how little I worry about Bill. I'm in the middle of trying to get a mortgage and a job at the same time. It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep 'cause I'm hopped up from the chocolate dessert last night (not to mention just a little stress). No, Bill is not one of my worries right now. Thanks much for the concern though. Sometimes this place can be a cathartic. Somebody ought to start a PRIMAL SCREAM THERAPY THREAD!!! Maybe I just did. ;^)
Keep asking. Run searches. With over 200,000 posts here now, almost every conceivable situation has been hashed through five times or more. Read them all. Follow every interesting link. Keep reading. It takes time and repetition to sink in. Whatever you do, don't stop reading. And, as I said in this thread and numerous times before, if you feel like you would benefit from hiring a tour guide to lead you through the jungle, don't feel bad about it, and don't let me or anyone else talk you out of it. Heck, as I already said, I did it for four months. Everything I saw Bill do reinforced what I was learning sort of haphazardly here. That was when it clicked for me and I knew that I was in charge from there on in. It's only hopeless if you stop.
GatorDeb: Quixote is right. Don't be afraid to say "Thanks for the replies but I need more detailed explanations because I'm not understanding." I'm sure posters here will be more detailed then. Let me tell you something....the King of murky and multiple answers is Bill from Creditwrench. If you are confused here, using Creditwrench will NOT likely clear things up. And, read, of course. The more you read here, the more clearer it all becomes.
