hey all... it has been 7 years since my last neg and all have been removed but one... i opened a new secured visa in 2000 and, according to most of my reports, i have no negs and a credit history that begins in 2000 (even though i have student loans MUCH older than that). it seems that my visa accounts never give me any good increases and they have horrible credit lines. my two mastercard accounts have pretty good lines... i want to get rid of most of my cards but i have to keep my first visa because it's my oldest credit history but i think it;s a big waste since my credit line is next to nill and it's been 4 years! what should i do???
by the way, i have a small balance on 2 cards, none maxed and have paid ontime every month...no negs!
Depending on what the negative is, you could try for B of A, Citibank, or AmEx Green. It isn't Visa it's the card company your'e dealing with - let me guess - Capital One? If the negative is an unpaid charge off forget it, but if it's a late, or anything paid, these companies will like you.
it has been 7 years since my last neg and *all have been removed but one... ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> *Why is it still there after 7 years?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
First, VISA isn't a card issuer, they're a network. They don't have any role in what your limit is, that is the company whose card you haves decision. The issue is the different company's whose cards you have, the MasterCard associated company, and the VISA associated company. Each credit card issuing company has their own guidelines for initial credit, and increases. Some company's give increases based on only your history with them, others combine that with your credit history to make a decsion. If the negative that is on your report's DOLA was Feb 97 or before, then the negative trade line should be deleted already as of March 1. When calculating the expiration date for the trade line you need to remember that the initial year is year 0, and year 1 begins on the anniversary of that date (just like your b-day.) But on the negative notations 7th b-day, it is supposed to be buried. If not then the CRA is not following the FCRA.
okay... i think i made myself come across as an idiot... i know that VISA doesn't issue cards... however, i have two cards with one company, a VISA and a MC... the MC keeps going up but the Visa stays the same... i also have 1 visa from a different company and 1 mastercard from a different company... the MC has a high limit and the Visa has a low one and refuses to give me raises above $100 every 6mos-1year... could it just be a BAD coincience??
Re: Re: what's up with VISA?? Thank you... The account should be deleted in a few months on the 7 year anniversary... so I guess technically it is 6 years 10 months....
Re: Re: what's up with VISA?? CALL THE BANK(S) Not every card from the SAME bank has the SAME terms... Sometimes you can COMBINE cards and ask for better TERMS or RATES or BOTH... VISA vs M/C have no barring on the credit limit...IT IS THE BANK
Re: Re: what's up with VISA?? and sometimes it depends on who you talk to when you call in, or who gets your letter when you write in to talk to them. just like every other aspect of credit, sometimes you get a better response when you actually talk to someone who is just a little bit higher up in the food chain.
Re: Re: what's up with VISA?? Thanks everyone... I was fairly sure Visa and MCs didn't have anything to do with CLs but it was a weird coincidence.... Thanx!
