I would say that about 99.9% of us have more than one credit card. What's your credit card balance over all of your cards? Also, do you have more credit card debt today than you had before you began your credit repair? Thanks. CardKid
Only about $2k total, which I'd rather have on one good card instead spreading it throughout four crap cards... wajaba
That's less than the national average. Marvelous! Is the 2k more or less than your balances one year ago? CardKid
My balance is $1867. I just purchased a new Sony Vaio notebook from their site. $1699.99 for the unit. $45 shipping and 7% tax. I also have fewer cards than one year ago with better rates (if needed). I'm down to four cards (Cap One, Fleet, Amex, and a credit union card). My goal is to get to two. But, I'm not ready to part with any of them yet. CardKid
I'm down to a little less than $5,000 and I'm tickled pink! WHY??? Because after some stupid mistakes when I was younger I was $19,000 in cc debt in 1998. I will be cc debt free sometime this year(originally was December but I think I might be able to pull it off sooner). I'm cleaning up my reports until the cards are paid off. Then I will get my first house.
Wow! That's awesome. 19k on the cards must have hammered your scores. Your new balance of less than 5k is also below the national average. How many cards do you have? CardKid
Hello Cardkid, Congrats on your new sony vaio notebook did you pay with you own credit card or use their installment plan through sony financial services.... I have the sony vaio desktop myself and I love it and thinking about buying a second one.... I think notebooks are great and I work for a notebook mfg company myself.... we just announce the new P4 notebooks... Have fun with the vaio notebook! Kev
CardKid (or anyone, for that matter), What is the national average for CC debt, anyways? Thanks, wajaba
Okay I have three store cards (JCP,Sears and Target) and 5 credit cards (Discover,Citibank,Bank of America,AT&T Universal and Capital One). Yeah..I basically applied for every card I was offered when I was young. Target,JCP,Discover,Citibank all have zero balances. Sears will be paid off within the next month. The others really soon after that. JCP and Target are the only ones that are open. Well, Cap 1 is keeping the acct technically open until the balance is zero. I'm going to keep my JCP card open since that was the first acct we established(10 years old). Other than that I really don't want anymore credit cards. I have started a savings and I will use that for emergencies. I do worry that not having any open will hurt my score but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Right now I'm focused on getting out of debt. I'm sooooo happy that I found this board so that I can learn from all of you so that I can fix past mistakes and get my first home. Thank you soo much for the response. Enjoy your new laptop.

Kevin01, I used Sony Financial Services. The rate is 9.* something. But, the terms include 90 days same as cash. So, they're going to make a big fat ZERO in interest profit and I get another I1 in exchange on my bureaus. I applied online at their website. The way it works: You have to choose the item you wish to finance. Then, in the payment section choose the financing option. It opens up the application. They pulled an Equifax report (GA). By the way, this is an installment contract not the plastic. CardKid
Thanks, Breeze. I chose the one with the included docking station. Here's a link if you have Adobe Acrobat installed: http://www.sonystyle.com/vaio/popup/specs_r505dl.pdf Here's another link if you DO NOT have Adobe Acrobat installed: http://www.vaio.net/r505_overview.htm CardKid
Hello Cardkid, Thanks for the reply... Congrats on getting a good apr from Sony Financial Services..... enjoy your new notebook! I was thinking about financing it through Sony Financial Services as well but when I ask the rep which credit bureau they use the rep told me that he has no idea all he can tell me is either approve or not.... so I might just try it and see my equfax score is not the highest right now is only at 691.... so should I try or not... please let me know.... Thx, Kev
If you want a Sony and your score is 691, you should not have any trouble. Let me know how it turns out. Keep in mind that I'm in the Southeast. They may pull a different bureau depending on where in the U.S. you reside. CardKid
