What's your most stubborn negative?

I have been working on mine and my husband's credit clean up since August 2001. I have only filed one lawsuit during this whole time, so all of the deletions I have gotten (93 total for both of us AND 126 inquiries) have been done the hard way--one at a time.

I have now come to a point where I am stuck. I am starting to see some patterns emerging on both of our reports. I thought I would throw this out to the board and see if anyone else was having similar problems.

    His Report:
    TU - CH 13, Cap 1
    EQ - Cap 1, Chase
    EX - CH 13, Cap 1, Chase

    My Report:
TU - CH 13, Cap 1, Household Bank
EQ - CH 13, Chase, Compass, Discover, Providian, BOA
EX - Cap 1, Chase, Compass, Discover, Household

Of 21 total negative entries, Capital One, Chase, and the CH13 account for 62%!!:

    Capital One - 5
    Chase - 4
    CH 13 - 4
    HH - 2
    Compass - 2
    Discover - 2
    BOA - 1
    Providian - 1

Any thoughts here on what to do? I feel fairly sure that with persistence I can get the CH13 removed, but it may take awhile. I am losing faith that I may ever get Cap 1 or Chase removed.

Can anyone give me any guidance in this? I am tired of chasing my tail!!!

    Thanks!

This is purely an observation, but it seems like its harder to get sub-prime derogs off than other accounts. I have been fighting to get an FCNB paid chargeoff deleted for sometime now. Thanks to this board, and now knowing about validation, etc. I'm hoping to finally get rid of it this go around (fingers crossed) or those blood suckers will just fold on 04/30/03 and not be able to "verify" ever again!

Good luck to you. I have theorized the same thing you did.

Its funny because I had about half a dozen derogs on each CRA. Removing the first five or so was fairly easy, it was that very last remaining derog on each report that was really difficult. So far I have gotten 2 of 3 completely clean.

TU stuck me on a small unpaid collection for a water bill to the city. EX got me on a late showing on a paid/closed CitiBank card. And, EQ (my last remaining one) won't budge on a closed/paid Discover account.

You would think that one creditor would stick out as being difficult, but that's definitely not the case. IMO its the CRA's that cause the problem, not the oc's. Its the last remaining account or two where they decide to draw the line and put up a fight.

For me it's been a 30 day late from 3 years ago on an open Discover card and a bunch of various lates on a closed Chase card.

They are both etched in STONE!!

Have been working on my and hubby's reports since Oct 02.

Have had nearly all of my derogs deleted EXCEPT:

Chap 7 (1994) from TU and EQ

Lates with First Premier on TU & EQ (1-30 and 1-60 from 2001 that they will not remove even if it was their fault)

Ford Motor Credit-says filed bk in 2000-this is ex's bk info that crossed on to my report because we had this account jointly. Have sent docs, but they insist I owe it. Normally, it would be true, but some other stuff happened to make it so I shouldn't...but that's my opinion, lol.

As for hubby, all has gone well...except on hix EXP report. Bastards. Won't remove his only 2 derogs that others deleted.

Hi LisaMc. I just had a successful experience with Cap1 last month. I was 60 days late on all three reports, and tried to dispute it w/the CRAs. It came back verified every time (since it was true). So, I tried a goodwill letter to Cap1 (I used some suggestions from this board, but incorporated my own sad story). My expectations were not great, especially since I am considered vermin of the "subprime" variety. But to my astonishment, I received an apologetic letter in reply stating they would delete the negative information from all three CRAs, and it was indeed deleted immediately. When I wrote in, I didn't have a contact name, so I just addressed it to "customer relations manager". Thought I'd pass this info along. Good luck. It sounds like you are definitely making progress, though! BTW, any tips on how you plan to remove that pesky ch13? You sound fairly confident that you can get it deleted. I'm having trouble getting my dismissed 13 (from 1995) removed from Equifax.

The Ch13 actually came off of Equifax and Experian. TU no dice (so far). I don't know why/how it happened. I think it is just dumb luck for the most part. I am not really hopeful with a goodwill letter to Cap1 since my acct was included in a bk. They have zero incentive to clear up my reporting. I can only hope for a deletion! Good luck to you.

Mine would have to be... American Express Corporate Card - which belonged to my former (now bankrupt) employer... This thing wont go away. They said they dont care WHO opened the account, I had the card and I made the charges.... and I signed the receipts which indicated I would pay - even though I didnt have a credit contract with AMEX. The company just put my name on a card - they were supposed to pay the bill. EQ removed it once after I disputed it; now it's back (no letter telling me they were putting it back either).

Couldn't this Amex issue fall under the idea of reporting a bk on a cosigner's report? Chase v. Nelson. Do a search on that case.

A paid tax lien. Off on TU and EQ but the Evil Exp won't let it go.

I DIDN'T OWE ANY MONEY! The state owed me money. I did not file one year. The California State Franchise Tax Board "did my tax return" for me. According to their math, they came up with me owing them money.

When I eventually filed, they actually owed me a refund.

Long story as to why I didn't file, had a little "accident" that year. I probably should have fought the state to remove the lien. I was in hospital at the time intent to file the lien was mailed to me. Too late now.

Anyways, I have sent the Evil Exp copies of my refund check, but of course they ignore it. Well, actually they were gracious enough to update the status from owing to "settled." Real nice, a creditor pays you money, and your account get reported as settled.

Did a procedure request, worthless. Already invsestiged twice, EXP won't investigate again. It's a dead end.

    See you in court EXP!

I have gotten rid of Next Card on 2 of 3 bureaus. EXP keeps verifying. I am asking the same question! Does anyone know how they can verify if they don't exist?

I know what you mean LisaMC. I have gotten rid of them on EX and TU....but EQ is my problem! They won't delete. I know they still have SOME people cleaning up the mess at Nextcard, but once that's done, they should ALL BE GONE and shouldn't be able to verify. Anyone have any ideas???

I lucked out with nextcard. Some ignorant CSR sent me out a non specific letter saying that nextcard was "requesting the removal of derogatory information" from my credit reports after I bitched them out for reporting a balance 4 months after settling. I twisted meaning of the letter to include ALL derogatory information in my disputes to the CRA's. EQ and EXP deleted while TU verified. Finally TU folded after I sent them a very strongly worded second dispute/ITS/draft complaint letter and deleted the account.

I don't have one most stubborn negative, I have two.
Transamerica Bank and Ford Motor Credit.

I have both on violations, and it appears that I will be forced to litigate if I want either removed.

Would you mind sharing a copy of the letter if you have it? Message me and I will provide you with my email address.

    Thanks!

    Ummm...

You have Ch 13 BK and some chargoffs or lates with the listed CC's, and you STILL have FICO scores as high as what you list in your Sig line??!!??

Damn, I'm jealous. I have a Paid Col from 98 and one that just popped on my CR for a $48 tax bill that I'd been disputing with the County, and a couple of 30 day lates in the past 2 years, and my TU Fico was 599 !!!???

Tell me, what's your secret, or how long ago were these Derog's?

Most difficult derog? A paid charged off Chase Visa account. I'm going to try another approach.
