When a CA keeps pulling my credit report?

Is there anyway that I can get a CA to stop pulling my credit report. I was looking at my credit report last night and was amazed at the different companies that have pulled my report. Its frustrating to see that any company can pull my report without my knowledge but when I try to pull my own, it takes an act of Congress! I had no idea a CA could do this until one called me and said "according to your credit report you are paying your other bills so you must have some type of income. "

There is an opt out option. Search the forum..it will tell u how to do it.

Whether this helps or not depends on what type of inquiry the CA is making. Soft inquiries are the ones that are blocked. Seems to me that a CA shouldn't be making any hard inquiries, since you are not asking them for credit.

TRJAZ -- On CRs, there are two inquiry sections: hard and soft. Hard are the inquiries after you requested credit with somebody, e.g. filled out an application for credit. Soft are inquiries by different companies that want to offer you credit or insurance. The companies that are in the soft section don't see your entire credit report, as I understand it. They only see enough to be able to pre-approve you for some type of credit.

I just double checked my report and it shows it listed under "hard" and it also states these will stay on my record for 2 years. It shows 12 different companies, 1 shows "permissible purpose" as "consumer initiated", 3 show "collection" and the other 8 do not show a reason. I wonder if these can be disputed, I thought these type of inquiries lowered your FICO. Also, it lists one CA under "regular inquiries" (these are the hard ones) and it also lists that same CA under "Inquiry Analysis." This is the section where it states, "The below company listed in the regular section of your report that received your file in the past 90 days has provided the following input"........then it lists my name, address and phone number. Hmmmmmm ? My name address and phone number has always been on my report.

from what I have read if you have a credit relationship with them for example owe them money they can make a hard pull on your report. And yes too many hard pulls does lower your score. Now If the sol has expired on the debt I dont believe they can pull your report anymore.

File a dispute with the cra and see if it falls off.
