When applying for credit for my business many of the applications ask for my social security number. Do I need to give my SSN or just my business tax payer id when completing the applications?

Most creditors want your SSN to pull a personal credit report. If you are just starting out Capital One offers a Business
Visa card 18008670904 or if you have excellent credit try American Express small
    business services through their website.

You have to give them SS# when they ask for it. If you give them EID when they ask for SS#, you theoretically can get charged with loan fraud. since your SS# is coded for what year and state you the number was given, it'd be pretty easy for them to catch it if you gave them an EID.
