My brother has a judgement which went to the courts in September 2001.The debt was paid in July 2005. Do they count the 7 years from 2001 or 2005? This was in PA. Thanks for your input.
Is a satisfaction on file with the courts? When the satisfaction gets picked up by the courts, that helps with creditors for whom a judgment is a dealbreaker ... also, if there is no satisfaction on file, you want to make sure that he gets a satisfaction that accurately reflects the 2005 payoff date rather than 2008 ... age of the payoff can be a factor. Meanwhile, judgments showing paid in the PR section of the CRA reports are easier to knock off with a dispute or two. Left alone, it will fall off the reports in 7.5 years. However, unless it shows paid, there are services that will carry the inaccurate status of the judgment forever, and it can be a problem in unexpected ways at unexpected times.
Docket number, date filed, amount, etc. Use a procedures request on the second request if it remains.
