When Must The Original Creditor stop reporting to the credit bureaus after a C7 BK....or can they keep reporting my information to the credit bureau for the next 7 years? Is there a law I can read? The only thing I have located is the "Permissible Purpose" but that is for retrieving a credit report.

I called the FTC (1-877-382-4357) and they said that it was not covered in the FCRA and to contact your state consumer protection agency for your state law. I will do that soon.
Ok, just got off the phone with the Texas (I live in Texas) Office of Consumer Credit. (1-800-538-1579) http://www.occc.state.tx.us/ They said that I might have to contact the Attorney General's office, and that the FTC sends a lot of people to the State offices for answers they don't have. They also said, it seems that the FTC almost wants people to sue to get new rulings. On to the State Attorney General's office.
I'm unsure where you got the idea that the OC ever had to stop reporting. As long as the information meets the reporting requirements (accurate and complete; updated and verifiable) the tradelines included in BK can report for 7 years -- the public record of the BK for 10. Sassy

There is no further relationship between you and the credit card company. Now in the case of a certain company that reported a charge-off with a balance, When I correct that with the CRA's and then later it shows up again.....that in itself is a violation of FCRA. Can they keep doing this or did their final report have to end with the BK dismissal?

(2)That account was dismissed In CH7 BK. (3)They report it as a Charge-Off with a Balance Due. (4)I clear up my reports to say Included In Bankruptcy. (5)They come back and re-report it as a Charge-Off with balance. So, I can play this game for 7 years with them?
Re: When Must The Original Creditor It is my belief that the OC can report for 7 years from the charge-off date, and that there is a notatino on the CR that states discharged- bankruptcy. The balance would show as -0- as that is the correct balance. If the balance does NOT show as zero, then dispute it. I have and so far they've all been corrected. When I'm lucky they fall off completely. Just keep disputing, as regular as clock work.
Re: When Must The Original Creditor Im wondering if a letter from your BK attorney to the OC might stop the activity . If they are on your list of creditors in the BK filing and they keep showing your charged off and not BK ........Im sure there is a BK law they are busting ... but don't take my words ....... I'm a newbie
