After working hard for several years to dig ourselves out of a huge hole, my husband and I finally paid off everything six months ago. We've had problems with mistakes (name confusion) on on CR's previously. I applied for a card that I knew that I wouldn't get, got my Experian report for free. To my surprise, everything was basically correct, except for several accounts showing more and later deliquencies than actually happened. One account shows a 150 delinquency, when I know there were only 60 and 30. Most of the mistakes seem to be two months into a credit counseling program that we entered into in 1997. Could this be fallout from that? Some of these accounts didn't lower interest or payments on the program. Can I or do I dispute these? I only have my cashier check carbons from the counseling program. Will it hurt anything to dispute? We want to buy a car in the spring and a house in 2 years. Thanks!
Probably so. Just because you sent payments to CCS don't mean the creditors got their payments on time or even that they got them.
