I want to satisfy a judgement from 2000 and sent a letter to the attorney representing the OC. I got the green card back about 2 weeks ago, but haven't received a response from them.

What should I do? Can I pay this at the courthouse? I really want to settle this because I'll be applying for a mortgage in about six months.

    thanks!

DO NOT PAY IT AT THE COURTHOUSE. The Court's function is just to say "Yep, she owes money", not as a collection agency.

Since you have the money to pay and are willing to pay, why not contact the attorney by phone? AND... make sure you get a receipt and a Satisfaction Piece so you can have the Satisfaction recorded at the Courthouse por County Recorder to release the judgement from your record.

If all else fails, contact the Original Creditor.

Just so no one is confused... The satisfaction of judgement will be recorded at the courthouse. You don't get it removed from your credit file though, just because you are paying it. Lucky for you, you intend on moving. After the move, remove the old address from the CRA files. Then, shortly after, dispute as not mine. You should be free in the clear.

Yes, contrary to other posts here, you CAN and SHOULD pay it at the Courthouse, call them to find the EXACT amount. They will require a certified check, it is the SAFEST way to immediately have it filed as a paid judgment.
