Platinum, I was asking that question just the other day. So, I guess to make Dell report you have to buy something. Charlie

That's right...they give you I think 60 days to buy something. If you don't buy and 60 days is over they never report.

    What a relief!

Hubby needs one for home and he got the 4500s with some customization. I wanted a laptop but after all my headaches with my Compaq, I'm just not ready to comit to another one yet! :p

We're 1 1/2 year post bk, so getting financing anywhere else wouldn't be as easy as with Dell. His rate was at like 18.99. I know, really high, but we'll have it paid off in less than 6 months.

    Gotta start somewhere though! :)

I had a Gateway Credit line approved for $3500. I spend about $1550 of it on my new system in April, 2001. Later, to help me pay off this loan and my Men's Wearhouse Credit card, I got a loan from Wells Fargo for $3,000. I just sent in a payment, and it was all taken care of.

If you wanted to do a balance transfer, get some "superchecks" from your credit issuer. Write out one of the checks, and mail in that payment. It really is that easy.

Now, IF your Dell account is a 16-digit account number, it may be possible to do an automatic balance transfer with your credit card company. I'd call them first and see what they can do. If they can- Great! If not, send in a check.

We got the 4500S- we love it! Interest rate is way too high, but I opted to bite and try to pay off as fast as possible.

Whew!!! Again you guys are making me feel MUCH better about him buying this computer. You know how it is these days...and how you hear what's good and what's not. I know we all have our own experiences -good and bad-, but you've really eased my mind a LOT!!!

Thanks!!! We should have his by August 23.
Now if I could just decide on which DSL to pick...oh well, tomorrow is another day! :)
