...2 different companies cannot collect on same debt (ie. CA and Original Creditor)...both are actively collecting on me!
Why would you have to pay the same bill twice????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have a similar situation where one of my accts was sold from one CA to another and both are showing on my CR. While one of them has not been updated in nearly two years, it is still showing as OPEN. I tried disputing it thru EX, but I just got word last week that it came back verified. What next? A little side note: I just joined this board a couple weeks ago but have been watching it like a hawk daily. I've learned a lot of valuable information these past few weeks!! I just submitted my first two disputes with Experian this evening. WIsh me luck...I will let everyone know what happens (if anything).
Lizardking, I will send a validation to CA and dispute to original creditor.... I thought I read somewhere that it is illegal for both to try and collect! Matt, 2 CA's can appear, but the one not active must report as "sold or transferred to another lender" and report a zero balance...i have the same problem where Exp "verified" the info as accurate, yet the original creditor is reporting I owe a balance (which is not accurate since they sold to CA) and the CA is reporting a different balance ($10 difference) I am sending validation to CA and dispute to original creditor (Good ol' CROSS COUNTRY BANK!!!!!)
