    Good morning everyone,

I have a question, my daughter had her purse stolen this weekend and she had her social security card and her daughters in the purse. Against my advice she had the cards in the purse,(Kids). what does she need to do in regards in alerting the Credit reporting buereas?... is there a permanent alert that can stay on their credit profile?.... any advice is greatly appreciated.

    thanks Rebecca.

First she should notify the police.

Then notify any of the credit bureaus. Notifying one will put it on all three bureaus.

She should also alert the Social Security Administration. She'll need to get new cards, I'm not sure if they mark the record in any way or not.

cancel those cards as soon as possible. she might've done well by listening to your advice. so did you tell her "i told you so"???

I did say "I told you so". The police have since caught one of the guys the day it happen but no purse still. The Credit card - notified, checking acct - closed and new one opened and social security have been notified.
Now is there something that can be put on the credit bureaus permanetly?

You can call and easily get a 90-day alert. I'm not sure about anything more permanent.
