Hello all I hope that everyone contributes a bit on this question.

I applied on 7/23/04 for the AMEX Costco card and was denied because of "housing arrangements" (they indicated I marked on the app that I was renting) and "length of credit history was too short" and my "utilization was high". Now on 08/04/04 I applied for the AMEX Green Rewards and was approved and I made a payment this month and was wondering how long should I wait before I apply for a different AMEX card. Any recommendations on which card would be helpful.

    My credit history: since 10/98
    TU: no derogs
    EQF: 1 -30day
    Exp: no derogs

    Current Cards:
    Orchard Bank CL: 950
    Target Visa: 1000
    Target Guest Card: 400
    JC Penney: 400
    Amex Green Rewards: charge card

    2 student loans: never late
1 car loan: orig bal 13K & balance is 7K never late?

I applied for the Green and Blue last Nov and was approved for both. Right after my 6th month mark I have received a 3k CLI on the Blue, upgraded my Green to Platinum and was approved for the Amex Starwood card.

From what I understand Amex would like to see a 6th month history with them.

A revolving Amex product requires a slightly higher standard than a Amex charge card prodict.

So, work the Green for 6 months, get you scores up there, make sure you have two major cc (Visa or MC) with at least two years of excellent history.

    Best regards,
    Mirage
