I want to apply for an AMEX in a month or so and need some feedback on the following cards...

    Optima
    Optima Plat
    Delta Options

    What are the basic requirements?

Does AMEX carry a basic green card anymore???

I just got an Amex Blue for Small Business with a score just under 660. They don't require documentation on the business, so as long as you have some work you do on the side, you can legitimately apply.
The plus is, the balance doesn't show up on your regular report...

Did you have any dergos with that score? What bureau did they pull?

Hmm...I do some Ebay'n. Would that count? What type of info did you put on the app? So, they check your credit but do not put the TL on your report? Interesting. What CRA did they pull?

    That's what I've heard

Blue is cool looking but why doesn't anyone consider the Optima Platinum card? AE no longer advertises this on their web site but it is eligible for best value guarantee. There are few AE credit cards that are eligible for rewards AND bvg allowing you to save up to 1000 a year on purchases. Is there something about blue I'm missing? I had the cash rebate card and after a few months and only earning a few dollars back, I switched

I forgot to mention after talking to a nice CSR I was offered 4% + prime.

glenb2, what are general application requirements for the Optima cards? I looked over the AE site and feel the optima features are better for me.

I had 1 real derog... a 24-month-old medical collection for $25 or so.
I also had 1 less serious derog, which was a 48-month-old 30 day late on a bank line of credit.

Oh, and they pulled Equifax this time, but I think before one time they pulled one of the others.

When I was approved, I only had a 2yr old 30 day derog. I think my FICO was around 660 and 670. They pulled equifax. I was a little suprised that I was approved because I have buckets of inquiries maybe 10. Don't forget to call new accounts to get a CL increase
