I am at the point where there is limited correct yet negative info on my Transunion. A few more baddies on Equifax and Experian to work on but all in all, things are looking good on getting negatives gone. My problem is I have no positives. I have done what I need to do on my end to fix the reasons I had allowed myself to have bad credit in the past. Basically it was immaturity and a general lack of caring at what is was going to do to mess up my future. I am now older and wiser. *LOL* But I don't have $$$ available to do a secured card. My fako scores according to PG are in the mid to high 500's. I do have some wonderful inlaws who want to see us be able to buy a house in the future and financially be able to relocate independently to another state in a year. They are willing to add me as an AU to whatever cards they have without giving me the actual card in order to boost my score. I actually have a Wells Fargo card from them with an amazing $15,000 limit that I have used for minor on-line purchases and vehicle emergencies and I always pay my portion in full each month but am not listed as an AU on it. Is there a list out on the net that might enlighten us as to which CC's would be best for me to be an AU on? Or guidelines on who does a complete reporting? They have multiple cards with varied balances but I don't know if there is a secret on how many or what ones to pick to boost my score! Thanks again.
BEFORE you JUMP on an "AU" card...you must ASK if they report... They are all the same points wise if they are NEVER LATE and have low ratios...
I'm not aware of any public list, but through my personal experience, both Citi and Discover report AU's with full credit history to all three CRA's.
Relocate to another state on a house? And you can not come up with $200 for an Orchard secured. Or $300 for a American Pacific or Wells Fagro secured. That is the route I would go. If you cannot come up with that kind of money under those conditions than you are probably a long ways away from moving to another state with a mortgage. Good luck.
JVick, I didn't realize a secured card with such a small starting balance would actually be worthwhile? I guess I was thinking I would have to tie up $1,000 or something?? A house is maybe a 5 year goal of ours but my husband is working at a dead end job here in California and it seems as if to get growth in his field with his degrees we would have to move to another state where they are more "desperate" for people doing what he does. For some reason everyone wants to move to California which we can't understand because we think housing values basically stink here. Whereas in other states you can get a decent starter home for under $200,000. Thanks for the input!
