Which Department - Reconsideration

I rec'd a pre-approved 0% intro/14.9% regular rate, no fee Cap One Platinum card application in the mail. It said sign, return & get your card.

Instead, I decided to apply online. I was rejected. I have great credit.

** WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE DEPARTMENT THAT I AS FOR WHEN I CALL TO ASK FOR A RECONSIDERATION? **

The reasons that they gave on their denial letter were bullshit.

1- LACK OF BALANCE TRANSFER REQUEST
    2- BALANCES ON EXISTING ACCOUNTS
3- NUMBER OF NEW ACCOUNTS IN PAST 16 MONTHS

    (1) Okay, so I didn't ask for a Balance Transfer. I don't have any balances to transfer!

    (2) I have two platinum cards w/ credit limits of $10,000 and $9,000 and one gold card w/ a limit of $10,000, and have ZERO balances on all of them. I pay them off every month.

    (3) I got a mortgage 1.5 years ago for a new house. 6 months later it was sold to another mortgage lender (new account on credit report), then I refinanced it a few months later (another new account on credit report). Then I sold the house and purchased a new one, which was an 80/10/10 loan, which meant two MORE new accounts.

I think it's picking up all those sold/refi/purchase mortgages as new, separate accounts, and choking on the age of the accounts.

Again, what department do I ask for when I call for reconsideration? I've read people's posts before that mentioned the name, but I can't seem to remember.

    Thanks.

I don't know what the normal dept is, but you could always just call.

But, if I were you, I'd just fire off a planetfeedback letter stating that stuff.

Then you'll get to talk with the amazing Exec dept at Cap1.

When you do, get the intro rate but try for the 9.9 across the board no hassle rates after the free 0% period, for your trouble :)

    You could always try planetfeedback.

Here is the number for the executive office where Mr. Miller and Mr. Cooke are located. I believe I read a post earlier where someone just called it direct without making a planetfeedback request and she had success.

    1-800-955-1455
