I'm looking at a new way to pay my bills electronically. I want them to be sent to a place, have them download them and email me a reminder, then Let me pay them online. I want to eliminate the USPS completely for my bills. I was looking at www.paymybills.com and that is close to what I want, but does anyone reccommend anything else? TIA
Hey Erica! I was using Checkfree http://www.checkfree.com and it was free. I mainly was using them to pay my Macy's department store on line. This was back before Checkfree bought out Transpoint. They use to send the payment electronically to Macy's. After they switched to Checkfree, they would mail cut a check on your behalf and mail it to Macy's. Then when Macy's cashed the check (about 2-3 weeks from the time you initiated the payment), the check would post to your checking account like you wrote the check, but with some odd ball check number (I was in the 1000's and a check for 5001 came through). I didn't like that at all. So since I get free billpay with my credit union, I decided to try them. They can send electronically to Macy's along with all my other creditors except for my cell phone and electric bill. I'm totally happy with them. Oh, and another thing...the bad thing about Checkfree is that it takes 5 business days to process payments even if they are electronic or if they are cutting a check on your behalf. So, say your bill is due on the 17th (Friday). If you do not schedule your payment by the 10th (Friday) they will not process your payment. That was another thing that I didn't like. But they do send email reminders, they download statements for your viewing and you can schedule recurring payments.
Hey MP... I saw check free and didn't like their set-up too much. Thanks for your experience, though, that confirms my decision to NOT use them. LOL
Yeah, they offer a service to only pay the bills online. I want something that will eliminate the paper being sent to me. Paymybills.com does that. I think that may be the way to go for me.
I use TD Waterhouse Bank's online bill pay. They used to have their own software but just recently switched to the USPS's bill pay system. Not every payee can do the fully electronic statements, but about 70% of mine do. The postal service offers this to the public at http://www.usps.com/paymentservices/welcome.htm
