I'm probably relocating to the Chicago area next Spring, and want to buy a condo or house. What mortgage company (in your opinion) is the best to try and apply with.
CountryWide is by far the best that we've dealt with. If you have less than perfect or questionable credit they have "Full Spectrum Lending" you'll get approved through them then it will just be a CountryWide loan. and GREAT CS too!!! L.
Much more important than the mortgage company is to find a mortgage loan officer that you feel that you can trust and work with. Ask questions of them and find out how much they actually know about the industry. Most loan officers that work for a single lender generally are only knowlegable of their own product and not the industry in general. Find someone that will work to get you the loan that works best for your circumstance and what you are trying to accomplish. Purchase is just part of the equation. If the loan officer is not knowledgable then you ultimately lose in the end. Good luck in your search. fla-tan
Also, which type of mortgage best fits your needs? Would a 30 yr or 15 yr be better? What about ARMs either 1-3-5-7? If an ARM, then which index to use. LIBOR or T-Bill? How about COFI loans or Interest Only? There are alot of questions that need to be answered before you can truly get the mortgage that works best for you. Good luck fla-tan
ooooh, I used www.aimloans.com and worked with a great guy, Don Semler. It was so easy! Have a bk, too! Been in my house a year!
mom, we just found out this week that our 2 month old mortgage is going to be taken over by CountryWide effiective tomorrow. What can I expect in terms of their customer service? What about reporting? I'm hoping this will make our scores jump up quite a bit.
