    Maybe YES, maybe NO.

People on this board have even got INSTANT denials, and got the card with-out doing ANYTHING...

Somebody even got a DENIAL letter a couple of days AFTER the card...

What card did you apply for? (they issue 100's of them)

    jrjr35,

I applied for Yahoo! Visa and they give instantly approved. At the same time, they gave the account number. My borther applied for the same card and they gave him need further processing. After a week, they get denied letter. First USA pull credit from Experian.
One year ago, I also applied for First USA smart card. They couldn't give me instant approval. I called the customer service and check on the status of the application after 20 mins. The automated system told I was approved.

Applied online for FUSA platinum card and received "you will receive notice though the mail" response. Well, 3 weeks later I received a letter of denial.
They pulled Equifax (FL) with a score of 700.
Reason for denial was too many inquiries (7 over last six months) and too many new accounts (6 over last 6 months).

    Hope this helps....

Thanks for all the information guys I really appreciate it. I wonder though sometimes whether all this is worth it. I mean people have FICO'S of 700 and they get denied for too many inquiries? It sounds to me like an excuse to not give you the card. From what I understand of this FICO nonsense a 700 score is indicative of someone who would only have about a 5% chance of not paying their bills. Why wouldnt they want to take a chance on that?

    Thanks

Warning! Watch out for FUSA. They pull a lot of scams on people- billing errors, jacking up interest rate during the promo period and after, not posting payments, losing payments, etc., etc. Quick way to ruin your credit if you are not VERY VERY careful.

Also, they use the two cycle billing method rather than the average daily balance method.

I will most likely get denied if its based on inquiries! I have around 10 now on EXP!! Perhaps I'll wait till the disputed ones get removed..

    Mist,

I have First USA Yahoo! Visa Card and I always make payment on-line. They posted my payments after two to three days most. I requested my Yahoo! Visa two months ago and they lowered my rate to 10.99% APR var. By the way, I never carry any balances on the card.
