I applied for a checking account and got denied for that. They did a soft inquiry on Experian. My scores should be in the 650s with them. I have a 2 year old charge off as my only neg. They also checked Chex Systems, and I'm wondering if that's why they denied me, but as far as I know, Chex shouldn't have any negative info on me.
Yeah, that is confusing to me. I've been denied for plenty of credit cards, but never a checking or savings account.
We're on the band wagon of being puzzled about this one. EX scores of 719 and 674, both declined for checking accounts with Umbrella. So far no hard or soft inqs have appeared. We've both requested reports from Chexsystems, there shouldn't be anything at all there but now, who knows? DemPooches
Strange, isn't it? I also requested my Chexsystems report. That one will be interesting to see. I think I had some checks bounce around 5 years ago, but I know I paid everyone back quickly afterwards. Wondering if those will show up.

I have also tried to cut and paste the linky. It seems like within the past 24-48 hours there are at least 3-4 people who have applied for their checking and either they were denied or they were not offered any CC.
