Who is First USA?

    Hi,

I pulled my Equifax report, and WOW, First Usa has me down for 120 + late 11/2000, 120 + late 10/2000 and 90 days late 14 times. This pulled my credit score down to 656. Boy am I angry! I filed a dispute on line, but this caused me damage. I'm glad I checked my credit records. Except for two late payments on my student loans three years ago (still going to graduate school, but went to part time and had to start paying--and I was studpid), nothing has been late for probably ten years.

I went to this company's web page and they appear to be a credit card company. I have never had an account with them.

What angers me is that they can put something in my records and damage me, and yet the only thing that happens to them, is well, nothing, the item is removed from my account. I want revenge! and man am I mad!

Now I realize why I was denied a loan for a motorcycle. I could not figure out why I was denied this loan, now I know (this was ten months ago).

They are a credit card company, bought out by Bank One in 1997, merged with First Chicago in 1998.

Used to work for them as a customer service rep - wish I knew someone to refer you to but the Dallas office where I used to work was closed.

Their phone number is (800) 995-9900. You can try the customer service lines.

My advice, their correspondence dept. is a month and a half behind, so I would dispute it. As a rep we used to have a joke "What does the correspondence dept., Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny have in common? You hear stories that they exist but have no concrete proof."

    Just my .02

Check your credit cards because they are over and have many names, look on the back of your cards to see if you see there logo.

    Hi,

The thing is, I have never done business with any of them either! Like I said, I am angry!

You definately need to call them. Someone could have used your information to open an account with them.
You don't have a Wachovia or Chevy Chase account do you? If I'm not wrong, they are a division of First USA.

Call them and ask to speak with the Fraud Unit. If you're convinced this was a result of identity theft, have the account closed and ask the CRA's to place a fraud alert in your file, so that no new accounts can be opened by the thief.

We you ever an authorized user on a credit card from one of those companies maybe? If you were, or if someone just put you down as an authorized user....it gets reported to your report as well.

I would definately call them and investigate.

You can add Harris Bank Visa/MC cards to the mix as First USA controls this as well. I agree check your reports and see if anything is fishy.

    Best regards,

They also do Visa cards for Southwest Air and Best Buy. They do a lot of cards that are under names other than FirstUSA so it is possible you had one. Call them and find out.
