Im asking this question on my girlfriends behalf. She and her ex have been divrced for a little over 2 years. when she threw his drunken butt out, he tried to "change" nd go to a therapist trying to win her back. Oh course the deadbeat never paid his bill. now 2 years later she has began to receive bills at her address addressed in her ex's name for these thearapy sessions. Who is responsible for them? We live in Indiana, which is NOT a community property state. They were seperated at the time the bills were incurred. She filed for divorce shortly there after. She did attend ONE session with him. SHe did not sign anything, she was more of a tag-along, the therapist asked her ex to bring her in for a session with both of them at the same time. She is worried about getting sued. Is she responsible for his debt? (again, the coll notices come in his name ONLY
No insurance? Your SO never signed *any* documents? Go to the post office, send the mail back, unopened, "Return to Sender, Addressee Unknown." Keep a file of the "returned" mail and all you'd need to do is scan the front of the unopened letter with only the ex's name on it. Print and save with a notation on the scanned image the date it was returned to the post office. Records can indeed be our friends.
