I've done some searching and haven't received a satisfactory answer to the question. I'm curious to hear who has seen authorized user accounts reported, by which company and how long ago it happened. It seems like sometimes peoples accounts might not get reported simply because the credit bureaus can't identify the person well enough by their name alone(some cc ask for the persons ssn too). Any info would be appreciated! Sam
AT&T Universal Platinum (citi). I was added as AU about 9 mos ago, reports to all 3 CRAs, shows limit, shows original open date. My wife did not give them my SS# (She knows better
I know Amex and Citi do. I believe most major banks probably report AUs. A word of caution: make sure the credit card companies reports the credit line. Amex, does not report the credit line so being an AU for Amex really is of no help to your score. Dani
My husband added me to his providian account as a AU. He had this account 9 months before putting me on it and it showed up on my credit report as soon as he added me. candi
Should I provide my SSN# to the CC so that it does get reported? My mom has a platinum Citi card w/ 10,000+ and is willing to add me as AU....
monij I wouldn't give them my SS# unless they won't put you on as AU without it. They will still get it on your credit report. I'm an AU on 4 of my wifes cards, they all found their way onto my credit reports without my SS#.
Thanks, Pat...My only concern is that my mom and I have different last names, and have never lived at the same address....will they still find me? Why is it bad to provide SSN#?
I'm always leary of giving my SS to anyone. My concern (which may be unfounded) was that the credit card company might pull my report. I suppose if your Mom makes it very clear that you are being added as an AU only and gives your SS, it should be alright.
Thank you Pat! Has anyone had experience with this?? (Providing SSN# as AU without denials/problems??)
I am an AU on dh's Sears account, and he is an AU on a Lowe's and a Home Depot account from several years ago. We did not give ss# for any of them.
I got a Spiegal card last month, never used it, and it's reporting hubby as AU. No SS# given. Anna >Wiping my ass with my Terrible Towel<
The other.... They can pull it just by my name??? How would they relate me to my mom just by my name if we've never shared an address (that I've reported on my reports) or share the last name??
Sorry to scare you. To my knowledge, most companies don't pull a hard inquiry for an AU (I could be wrong here). I wasn't referring to this situation speccifically. I was just saying that in general, they don't need your SSN, I think they just need name and address.
Oh...OK...so with name and address..they can report it to the right person! My first and last name is common...so just makin sure!
I added 2 of my sisters, my aunt and uncle as AUs on my Blue card. I know that it is reporting on their credit reports, but I also think it screwed up their addresses on the credit reports, because now I get preapprovals at my house all the time for all 4 of them. When I added them, I only gave their names.
So it does sound like most all cc report- does anyone know of people who don't?? Incidently so far AT&T Universal has been my only CC that has asked for the ssn # so far to add an authorized user.
