My first reply answered the question of whether the poster can be sued or not.

I'm sorry Tmitchell, I didn't think I saw anything about statute of limitations defense.

Roshambo - Cardreport.com says 6 years. I've seen errors on some of the sites, you might do a google search on "statute of limitations" and debt, and check several sites to be sure.

#1 Check SOL - you should be able to tell CA's to take a flying leap -

#2 About disputing "accurate" information - The CRA's are required by law to report only accurate information that they can verify. If they can't verify it, they can't report it.

Of course there always seems to be the problem of getting the CRA's to tell you how they verify info.

Most people doing credit repair are not trying to get out of paying their debts, or duck their responsibilities. Most of us are people that have had some hard times and don't believe we should have to pay for it for 7 years.

I disputed 4 accurate derogs and had them deleted and/or updated. Tu and EFX deleted them immediately, while Exp updated 2 of them to 0 bal, never late and deleted the other 2. I guess it helped that all 4 accounts were over 5 years old. SOL in NJ is 6 years, so I still have another 5 months of waiting left, to see if any one comes after me. But I'm betting the CRA never even attempted to validate because the action was done within 2 weeks of receiving my dispute.
