Which site has the correct Statue of Limitations. I live in VA and according to these sites the SOL are: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml or http://creditdefenses.com/statutes.htm or http://www.carreonandassociates.com/statutebody.htm The variations in the SOL's are starking. I am just trying to establish which of these sites has the most valid information. Thanks
Verified Info Kate: While I canâ??t (and shouldnâ??t) speak for the others as to accuracy, other than to comment that I find the Carreon & Associates site to be very informative. CreditDefenses.com obtained the SOL data from a base of attorneys in respective states, and cross-referenced the info using ACA material. Although Iâ??ll be updating the SOL section of the site soon, the info is accurate as of 1/1/00. What variations are you referring to so perhaps some clarification can be offered? Keep The Faith, Anthony Villaseñor
Kate: Ours comes directly from the american collectors association & Findlaws indices but to be sure, why don't you just go to the home page of the state you live in and read the statute. http://legis.state.va.us/ Also this has all VA statutes & codes. http://www.carreonandassociates.com/legal/main.html It will take you right to the codes and statutes by state at each states page not ours, so you'll be sure to get it from the horses mouth. Good Luck! Kristi

RE: Verified Info Looks like we both utilize the ACA quite often - Thanks for the comment Anthony. I too was wondering exactly what indifference she was refering to. An apology Kristi and Anthony, I apologize for being vague in my post. Your two sites have identical information. The problem I am seeing is with creditinfocenter. I have seen a lot of post that use this particular site as a reference for SOL and as you can see from below they are no where near what either of your two sites are posting. SOL for VA at Creditinfocenter Oral Contract - 6yrs Written Contract - 6yrs Promissory Note - 6yrs Open Ended Accounts - 6yrs At Creditdefense Open 3yrs Contract (written/oral) 5yrs/3yrs Judgment (Dom/Forin) 20yrs/10yrs At Carreonandassociates open acct: 3yrs from the Last charge or payment written contract: 5yrs sale of goods is 4yrs Judgment 20yrs
RE: An apology Mmmm. Maybe Creditinfo just has not updated that page in a while. Kate wrote: ------------------------------- Kristi and Anthony, I apologize for being vague in my post. You Ainâ??t Seen Nothin Yetâ?¦ Kate: Not a problem because as Kristi mentioned the variations youâ??ve found are likely due to not updating. Although (forgive my shameless plug), if you think our sites are something now wait until CreditLaws.com comes online (another one of my pet projects). A consumer will be able to find much more (TONS more) than SOLs, but a vast variety of legal references related exclusively to credit issues. Everything from acceleration guidelines to Reg-Z segments are plannedâ?¦ Oh sorry about the plug folks (guess I shouldnâ??t say anymore), I couldnâ??t help itâ?¦ I just get so excited thinking about it. Sometimes plugs are good! While most folks recoil at even a hint of a promotion, it certainly should not apply to what you describe. The CreditDefenses web-site is clearly in the interest of consumers, and your cursory description for CreditLaws seems as though it will be what so many people need: a reputable and competent place to find important and needed information. It is VERY difficult to find some of the more arcane stuff you need on the web. Anyone who attempts to provide such information, as a business, or a service, deserves kudos. It's the shameless sleazy promoters of things such as catalogue-credit operations that give so many the willies whenever they see any kind of promotion on boards such as this one. Anthony, please keep us apprised of CreditLaws progress. I'm looking forward to it.
CreditLaws.com Launch Kate, Mo, ALL: A base version of the site should be in operation during the first quarter of next year, but this will be very lite compared to the finished version. Having stated this it should be made clear that this site (in conjunction with several other credit & debt related domains I control) is part of a patent oriented process. Without meaning to brag the whole project is pretty heady stuff, due to an orientation toward user friendliness. Consequently, lots (no gobs) of logistics may prevent an early launch. But not to worry, Iâ??m very certain youâ??ll hear about itâ?¦ There is a method to my marketing madness, donâ??t ya know? Seriously, next month Iâ??ll be forming an announcement list through CreditDefenses.com. You (and any other interested party) may want to subscribe to our eZine (newsletter) in the interim, as the first announcement will be issued there (on or shortly before November 30). You could always â??unsubscribeâ? from the newsletter after your contact info is put on the notice list. And Moâ?¦ Thanks for the kind words, Iâ??m hoping all the research pays off and more folks regard the site as you have. One of the most exciting aspects about the project (for me at least) is that CreditLaws.com, wonâ??t compete (but greatly compliment) other credit & debt related sites. Keep The Faith, Anthony Villaseñor
Ditto! Anthony: That will be about the same time we launch www.judgmentdebtor.com. A site aimed at helping consumers with every aspect of small claim litigation and the products that go within. I will certainly review creditlaws.com for compatability and pass it along to our IT officer if there is an area there to assist the judgment debtor. Best of luck with your venture.
