Why are there 3 cra's ?Wouldnt it be a lot better if there were only 1 cra?If 3 is better than why not have 6 or 7 cra's.
There may be 3 main CRAs, but there are a host of smaller specialized ones. The bad check collection ones (TeleCheck, ChexSystems), apartment rental ones, local or regional credit bureaus, etc. The CRAs are just private businesses, 3 of which rose to dominance in one part of the credit report business.
In my own personal experience, I am finding that although there are 3 main CRAs, my husband and I have hardly any TU pulls - even with our established accounts that report to TU. I am not sure if we just aren't using credit grantors that pull TU or if less credit grantors are pulling TU.
