so my girlfriend got a letter today from a CBCS saying that MCI claims she owes them money -- about $80 -- and please mail payment to MCI. She canceled her phone service with Verizon, who said they would cancel her long distance carrier (MCI) in June (scheduled to cancel in July). She gave them her forwarding address. Veirzon mailed her last statement to her at new place, stating that Verizon owed her $1.50 and showing her last Verizon and MCI bills to be paid in full (the last MCI bill was about $5). She called MCI today to see what this was about and they said that they don't send anything to collections -- that all billing/collections was handled by verizon and that she would need to call verizon to see what this was about. they said it did show on their end that she owed $80. She asked them why the collections letter said to send to MCI then, and they said they didn't know. She then called the CBCS and told them she was disputing this debt (and I am drafting her validation letter right now) and asked who sent the bill to them. She ended up speaking to a supervisor and she said that MCI was their client and that MCI sent them this bill. She told the agnecy what MCI told her, and she said she didn't know why MCI told her that. She didn't talk long to them because i told her not to lol I told her that we would send the letter of validation out tomorrow (gonna fed ex) and that most likely, they were not going to be able to validate because no one seems to know which way is up and there was never any contract signed to begin with. But I still think she should try to get this cleared up with MCI so that this doesn't resurface with verizon, MCI or another CA. She's on the phone right now with MCI trying to get them to read to her a list of the calls they claim amounted to $80 (especially since she has the last itemized list). Anyway -- I just wanted to vent. I don't understand why these companies have such problems with accounting errors! Does anyone have an address for CBCS. I want to fed ex this leytter, but the address they gave her is a PO BOX ... tboy
Which one do you want? The three green cards that I sent to the two PO BOXES and the phyiscal address all got signed by the same person... If you have a PO Box address, why FedEx? Use Express Mail from the Post Office. It can go to a PO Box and you can request delivery confirmation.
wow jam thanks!!! that's awesome hedwig .... i wanted to get the validation letter out ASAP before they put on her credit report ... but thanks for the suggestion
Re: Re: why can't verizon do anything r i didn't know that .... thanks for telling me!!! does it cost the same? tboy
Re: Re: why can't verizon do anythi I'm not sure what it costs any more. It used to be comparable, maybe a little less. I think it's $13.95, but I'm not positive. I don't know what FedEx is going for these days, either.
My experience with MCI a few years back was a stolen long distance phone card. $2000 worth for calls mad all over the US. I called, they said too bad, make a long story short, found out MCI uses a collection service to collect on accounts, I sent all paper work including police report, CCCR, was told they got lost, did again, said they didn't have them, I did it again, except this time when I put Eric's name on the envelope,(this was the 3rd guyI talked to after talking toRosa twice) the overnighted package ended up on the 40th floor of the MCI building instead of the 4th, on another Eric's desk who just happened to be someone who called me, corrected the account apologized profusely, I gladly gave him the name of Rosa who was a liar, and pain the the a$$. End of story, will never recommend or use their services ever again...........
Re: Re: Re: why can't verizon do anything r ok we have more information ... apparently this debt is from 2002. she moved then and i had her account rolled over to the new place -- and apparently they didn't actually roll the account over. apprently they started a new one and sent the last bill to the old address -- even though they were sending current bills to the current address!!! these people are so incompetent! she asked MCI if she paid them if they would then cease collections and tell the CAs to cease collections and MCI woman said yes. then she asked for this in writing and of course MCI said, no we don't send those types of letters. then i drafted a letter for her to fax. she called them back to get mailing address and they told her they didn't have one (oh for god's sakes). i found an address for them anyway and faxed the letter. they also told her when she called back that they were just going to send the payment to the CA (which i told my girlfriend that the MCI woman was lying to her). sending validation letter to CA. should she doing anything else with MCI? thanks tboy
Re: Re: Re: why can't verizon do an Regarding costs, I just checked the web site. Express mail is $13.65, plus an additional $1.75 if you want a return receipt (I assume like the receipt from certified mail).
