When applying for various Credit cards why do some companies ask for so much verification and others don't? (Check stubs/w-2s) I know when you're solicited or pre-approved or approved or whatever those aren't required. It seems to be different online than it is over the phone, any ideas? RE: Why do some CC cos.ask4che One of the biggist reasons is you don't have a long credit history,also you most likely havn't manage any large sum of debt.Here is the 2nd reason to go along with the first one your credit score is low.Most ccc's will not verify your employment,and income if you have a credit score of 680 or better.It has been aleast 8 yrs since they did that to me.I am self-employed you think that they would ask for proof of income from me,not anymore thanks to credit scoring,and my very,very long credit history.Now no matter how how good anyones credit may be if anyone ever applies for a mortgage about all bank will require proof of income,etc.Hope this helps answer your question.
