Okay, so I got all my info on Identity Gaurd and there are wierd names attached to my social security number according to them. What's that about? Anyone know how to fix it??? I want them off! But I'm sure Identity Gaurd got it from somewhere...it's kinda freaky!

That is freaky...you may want to place a fraud alert or freeze on your credit files right away. You can contact the CRAs directly to do this. Actually, won't Identity Guard do this for you too?

If someone really has attached his/her name to your SSN, then you don't want to allow anything new to pop up on your credit reports until you get this sorted out. You can also try contacting the SSA to see what they can do to help; however, I doubt they'll be of much assistance.

It is so so important that you obtain a direct copy of your credit report from the credit reporting agency that is showing these extra names attached to the social security number. When you get the report call into customer service and speak with a rep, give them your credit report file number so they can pull up the same report you are seeing. Ask them on every single name to provide you with the creditor responsible for linking that incorrect name with your credit report. Get the phone number & address and call each of these companies directly. Call each company and ask them to explain why they pulled a credit report or reported accounts to your file under this other person's name. Ask them to correct this incorrect information - and update the credit reporting agency to remove this. If there is existing accounts attached to the name - make them close the accounts. Yeah I agree that you want to activate a fraud alert with the credit reporting agencies, but don't just have them delete without finding out why it happened in the first place. Follow the line back to the creditor and talk to them about this. Calling social security is also a good idea to see if they are attached to your social security number their direction and not the credit reporting agencies. You should be able to locate your nearest office here: Social Security Online - The Official Website of the U.S. Social Security Administration
