Hi, I'm just curious. I've rebuilding my credit for the last few years. I started off with a Providian card 3 years ago at a CL of 300 and got it up to 1400 by the end of the first year. In the mean time I tried to apply for prime cards but kept getting denied. I decided to wait for offers. I got an offer from Household 2 and a half years ago and got a CL of 450 which has only been increased to 550 in the 2 years. Eighteen months ago I got a BOA Platinum offer and got a 4000 CL which has increased to 12,700. Upon getting the BOA card I immediately paid off and canceled the Providian card because of the ridiculous interest rates. They would not work with me to get those rates down despite a squeaky clean history with them. At about the same time, I also received a Chase Platinum Continental card starting at 500CL. They are tougher in terms of granting CL increases. Its up tp 1000 right now. I just accepted an Amex Gold Rewards card and I'm thinking about getting the Household card out from the sock drawer and canceling it. Do you think I'll be better off with the Amex?
i have heard that Amex charge cards are not reported to credit bureus. so will be better stay with ur others revolving cards
Excuse me. You are wrong. I have the Green. Gold. and Platinum. All three personal charge cards. All three cards report to my credit bureau report. I have never paid late on any of these cards.
Yes, KevPopChop is correct --- Amex charge cards do report to all three credit bureaus. I was an authorized user on a gold charge card and I have the green card and both are on my credit reports.
