Basically I am wondering if anyone had luck at getting Amex to delete a derog on their credit report for paying off a charge-off?

Ok guess no-one has been successful in doing this then.

Actually, I think people have. They just haven't seen this question of yours yet. These were situations where a lot of time had gone by, The folks had pretty much cleaned up their reports, and were hoping to re-establish a relationship with AmEx eventually. I dont remember the exact details, but they weren't negotiating tit for tat to get the entry deleted, they want to pay so they would get off the AmEx blacklist, and later be able to get another account. As I recall, AmEx was very generous about it, but it took some time.

I am sure AmEx wouldn't just delete for payment. The approach was more like "I want to straighten this out, and pay what I owe."

Try a search, maybe you could find it.

You'll have to pay your debt in full to get off their black list. The good news is, you can do it whenever you're ready, and no further interest will accrue since it was charged off.

Once their records show it's paid in full, contact their CB unit and ask them to take it off your report. We've had numerous people here who've done that successfully.

Ok the deal is the chargeoff is gonna be 6 years old in December. its for $933 Basically if its paid off in full, Amex is generous about doing something for the client? I really hope so this would be great! FYI this is not my account, I wish I could get a AMEX but I am destined for $200 credit limits. hehe
