My fiance has 2 credit cards - citi and capital one. I am planning on having her add me as an authorized user, in hopes of raising my own credit score. I've read on creditnet that it appears as if it was your own account if you are an AU. Does anyone know if credit card companies generally request your report (creating a hard inquiry) when adding someone as an AU?

Right now I've got a bunch of items in dispute, and my scores are 518 - TU, 620 - Equifax, and 660 -Experian. I have a car loan that I've paid on time for 25 months and that's the only positive. I'm thinking that if I get her revolving credit account listed on there, it should help me out greatly in regards to getting my own revolving account.

No inquiries in my experience for:

    Associates (BP, Citgo)
    Household (Best Buy)
    First USA and Bank One
    MBNA
    Citibank NA
    Target
    Bank of America
    Capital One

All except MBNA and Household report AUs.

Great. thanks for the info, very helpful.

Another question - does it matter at all that I am an AU if I were to apply to the same company for credit? I'm thinking companies that won't allow an individual to hold two cards themself. probably a pretty subjective question..
