Hubby received a mail offer for his now ZERO balance 3500 CL CITI card. It was 7.9% no BT fee. He previously had 2.9% deal that was going to expire on 3/3. I called Juniper last month and amazing they took the 2K balance for 4 more months @ 2.9%. I am beating it down with all my extra income from a second job. - Back to CITI.. I've seen where some of you had 4.9 offers in the past. I wrote to CITI via the web site and requested such a "for life of the balance transfer and a credit extention from 3500 to 5200 to cover the transfer. Right now the balance is on Chase @ 6.4 Variable. Citi replied : Please call us directly to discuss. So help me get prepared. Do you think they will deal? The transfer will only be worth it if I can get something for less than 6.4% with NO fee. ( this is the terms we have now) Should hubby threaten to close the account? Cherie
R equals retention.. but what is this exaclty and how is this different than just getting a customer service rep?
I received a 5.9% BT offer abt a week ago from Citi. Not good enough. ATT Univ offered me 6.9% and FUSA 5.9%. I need to do some dealing here because my 0% on Citi Select and ATT are both running out in April. I may transfer my balances from them to Juniper if I can get the 2.9%. The problem with that is the last time I BT'd to Juniper they pulled HARD inq on both EQ and TU. They did remove them, though, when I complained and did so within a week. I thought I'd have my debt all paid off by April but it's starting to look as though I have to push back my debt free wish date because I've had some things come up unexpectedly.
I received 3.9% BT offer until paid in full, no BT fee. The offer came in the mail, I had not to call anyone.
Mist and George, I got hubby up and he called ( he was out very late working last night). BUt Dear Citi wouldn't deal.. not at all. My husband requested the 4.9 no fee BT until paid offer, but the rep said that was ONLY for those getting new accounts. He asked several times but got the same response. The representative was still trying to sell 7.9% offer, which hubby quickly said that rate would be higher than any that we have now which is tru. My hubby is a little upset now about his wasted time as he needs to get back to work. I think I will write via the web site again and say.. why did they have him to call if the answer was going to be NO anyway?
The website is very limited to how much text you can write. After several tries, this is what it would accept. "Now, I am going into work late, and mad that my time has been wasted! I've phoned the number and a rep says that 7.9% is the best offer you have for me; saying that the 4.9% is only for new customers. I know this statement NOT to be true. I do have a few friends that also carry CITIBANK. I will discuss with my wife this evening if we will be needing to keep this account open at all." Whatcha Think? Do you think they will reconsider? This account has only been open since June 2001.. Think that is the problem? Hubby's FICO score is well above 700
Believe me I am all for trying to get the best deal possible with as much perstistance as you can give them, but sometimes if it still doesn't work you have to accept the NO and move on to the next bank.
If I called CITIBANK and said "I WANT TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT BECAUSE I CAN'T GET A BALANCE TRANSFER"...the response would be...OK, IT'S CLOSED...BYE...CLICK...DIAL TONE!!! I can't GET ANY BT!!! MY ACCOUNT DOESN'T HAVE ONE!!!
