since MBNA is not fico based, will they approve me?

no balances on accounts besides CHASE,, which I pay off semi-monthly..

2x 30 days late on worst report, zero on best Report.

Really, Really, need another card for use doing some major construction...

I think you are only hurting yourself when you continue to apply. I'm not sure why you think MBNA doesn't consider FICO. They may have their own scoring model, but I would think it would still be based in part on FICO scoring.

mbna is one of the pickiest cards to get, but so is chase. Usually if all your ducks are in a row, no baddies, they will call you after reviewing your credit report and welcome you.

Anything derogatory, they will expect a very serious answer from, and then its up to the discretion of the credit analyst to approve you or not.

It's easier to BDD into mbna imo.

I got a MBNA Loan through Gateway about 4 years ago with around a 625ish score.

No collections, just limited account history.

Anyone know how I might go about getting this converted to a card instead of a loan account? Is it even possible?

I would APPLY for a card...ANY CARD...then if you get approved...even for $2,000 you could combine and close the LOAN ACCOUNT...

yes convert your loan into gold option reserve, once thats done (takes a few weeks) you can convert to an mbna visa of your choice.

Future bdd's simpy can be directly combined (loan -> visa).

    works great, less hassle.

please elaborate.. I found alot of posts about this, but please explain exactly what to do now.

    Call MBNA (dept.?) and say.....

why does it take a few weeks.. I didn't pick a loan term.... so do I have revolving or Installment?the site (apple loan) asked me to pick the number of months i'd like for repayment... but it did say revolving...
    thanks!

i dont want an apple loan, please convert my goldoption loan to goldoption reserve.

when you get the account switched over and the new account # , call up and ask to speak to tele-sales or sr analyst and ask to convert your reserve to a mbna visa card of your choice.

They told me that they cannot convert it until the account is a few days old.

should I call again? once they open the account, could they decide that im trying 'funny business" by tryong to convert the line?

no there is no funny business. wait sit on your thumbs.

Why is this funny? You got a product, you know of a better way of using a product? It's not like we're ripping off mbna, just exercising our options (gold options!).

Don't for a minute think of us, or yourself as trying to play shenanigans with a bank, you are making them money, they will do anything in their power to take your APR.

It's called effectively manipulating your account to your best interest, and its plain and fair.

Several times this has come up , with BDD's and such, there's nothing crooked, wrong, sneak, bad, clever, whatever. The represenatives at the bank
are there to serve you , the customer.
