Just got the online message from Chase that my application for the Chase World M/C has been approved.

Called cs and found out that my starting CL is 5k.

Okay the part of the no pre-set spending limit, does this mean that if I go above 5k my charges will not be denied. (Assuming my paying pattern and history is okay).

    Still waiting for Bank One.

    Best Regards,

    Congratulations!!

The no pre-set limit means that they can approve above your limit (if your patterns are good, they probably would do that). You will not be charged an over-limit fee. However, your payment will be the minimum on your credit line PLUS the amount over your limit. In other words, you can't revolve above your limit.

If you knew you were going to make a big purchase or go over the limit, you might want to call first.

If you normally charged only 20% of your limit and paid it off every month and suddenly go over, they might decline, especially until they talk to you. This would be a big change in pattern, even though you might have the money. Maybe they would suspect fraud. But if you call and talk to them, it's probably not an issue.

Hedwig, thanks for the explanation. One more to go, not much hope for Bank One as this is one that I filed bk on.

Hoping my checking and savings account with them will make the difference. On top of this Bank One does not have a online way to check your status, there is a 800# but that message has not changed from day one of the application.

    Best regards,

    • I applied for Bank One on 10/20/03, they pulled from EX (as First USA), still no response from them. I never had any problems with Bank One or First USA ...

When you call the 800 number, is there a way to talk to a person? If it doesn't give an option, just try pressing "0". That often works.

Good luck with BankOne. It would be great to make 100%, wouldn't it?

I'm not pushing the issue but you have to wonder what the heck they are doing.

Not going to jinx myself but this would make it 7 for 7. United is my hometown airline so I do see value in this cc.

    Best regards,
