author- do you happen to remember what your Experian score when you were approved for the Readers Digest standard?
Yes, from posting payments late when they were actually sent quite early in the cycle and charging me late fees, to jacking my APR with no good reason, to conveniently (to their benefit) miscalculating finance charges. I did my math and caught them with the finance charge issue but most people don't bother to look closely. They keep coming up with new ways, apparently to sock it to you. I just read the one about the BT check processing fee of $100. They are really arrogant, IMO. Mist
Mark, You've already got the inquiry, and I agree that 3 vs. 2 new account probably won't make much difference. The FUSA card may even help with the ratios. One of the ones I was approved for was an alumni card, and I got a limit of 25k. The other one was a Bank One card and I got a limit of 17,500. I combined the two accounts. Talk about helping your ratios!
Hmm...can't say for sure but they pulled Equisux and Expain. I'd say maybe 620? At least one derog, lots of inquiries, short credit history.
thanx for the info - author. I think I'm gonna wait and see what I get approved for - but if i do get what I want - mostly use it just for debt ratio.
I clicked on the link to the site at tripod.com with many, many, complaints and stories about consumer treatment by FUSA. There was one about a $100 check processing fee imposed but the poster acknowledged, I think, that it was in the fine print. I don't know if they are doing this or not but it's not hard to believe. I just suggest, with my own experience with FUSA, that anyone who uses them make sure you DO read the fine print and be on the lookout for unscrupulous behavior. Mist
