A collection agency sued me and I turned filed my answer to the court. The court hearing came and I won my judgement against them for 1000.00 and my court cost. I need to know if this will come off my credit report since I won my judgement against them. Or do I have to send a copy of the judgement to the 3 credit bureaus... Also I recently sent a collection agency 2 letters. The first one "letter proposing settlement" in short stated that I do not acknowledge this debt but will to make the following settlement offer to conclude this matter quickly. It also states this is not a promise to pay and is not an agreement unless they sign and return it or we mutally sign a written agreement document. It also says that I maintain my right to seek further proof of this debt. It also states that they must report to all 3 credit bureaus as paid as agreed and that they will remove all references of delinquency on this account. The second letter "Agreement to settle debt". It pretty much is a contract that they sign and return to me for the settlement amount and agree to all the things state in letter one if I send them the money before or on the due date. Now the fact that they haven't. I can still turn around and ask for validation since I stated in the first letter I am not acknowledging that this is my debt.

Unfortunately, ANY collection entry, paid or unpaid, has a negative impact to your credit score. What counts is that it's there, not that it's paid or unpaid.

What you want, ideally, is to have them remove the tradeline completely, however they can't just delete it if it's valid. What you need to do is have them agree to never acknowledge the trade line or respond to verification requests. Then, after all is said and done, dispute the tradeline with the CRA so that after the CA ignores the validation request, the CRA will delete it from your file.

If they aren't going to remove the collection account, there's not much point in paying it, insofar as improving your credit score goes.

Congrats on your win! SO are you saying that the debt was dismissed with prejudice or that you got the one thousand on violation? Again CONGATS! Woofer

I'd try disputing it through the CRAs, first. After a month or so, I'm guessing it would come off. After all, they now know you won't take any crap :)

The easiest way is to go online to each company's web-site.
Be sure to save screenshots or print the request pages if you want to have a paper-trail using this method.

You might need a copy of your credit report, first. Start with http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ if you haven't gotten a free one for a while.

OBTW, congrats on winning the suit. What was the "key" or deciding factor in the case?

Just so I am understanding.Who was the plaintiff? You? Was this a separate suit for a violation or a counter ? Woofer
