Sorry so long, but just thought I'd share my most recent interaction with this most wonderful of businesses /sarcastic. My wife and I just purchased a house (escrow closes 12/18/03) and in the process of underwriting the loan the bank required us to address a 5 year old $130 collection on our credit reports from pacific bell, but assigned to another company. Well neither my wife nor I recognized this as our account and requested for the collection agency to provide us verification information via phone and then via registered mail in April 2003. After no response for 2 months or so, I disputed with all 3 bureaus; TU and Equifax removed the account but Equifax continues to report it. Well fast forward 8 months or so, with multiple requests for them to remove it with no success. About 2 weeks ago, I again disputed the account, while our loan broker contacted Equifax via phone to talk about the account. Well final answer is that Equifax verified the account to me (again) and faxed a paper to the loan broker stating that the account had been removed from the report...HUH WTF???? At least now, I am hoping that a copy of their own letter showing that the account has been deleted should be sufficient to actually delete the account from our report.
Hey, this wouldn't happen to be American Agencies would it? Is it Experian or Equifax that won't delete?
if it was equifax it is no surprise to me. those people have no regard for the law or the fcra.....i have never gotten anything that i had investigated through them removed. i always get the same respone...."contact the creditor".....seems like equifax could care less about the law
cinderella, excellent guess.... lbrown, what is ITS? and oops...Experian won't remove, I see where I confused the two names...sorry.
I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the deal with American Agencies, they are complete and UTTER scum, and EXP makes it all possible for them to be unethical. I have had a few problems with American Agencies for pursuing me for accounts NOT MINE. I disputed one several years and EXP deleted, but not really. They just hid the account from so it could pop back up at a later date when I would need credit. On account number 2, still not mine, American Agencies took the liberty of placing a second account on my reports, I shouldn't really complain, because at least I was able to see this one. I wrote EXP explaining I was being harrased by American Agencies, and EXP wouldn't do anything, which is fairly typical of them. Anyways, check out this link and scroll down, keepmine posted a link to the Better Business Bureau regarding American Agencies: http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...s=&threadid=53326&highlight=american+agencies I would send an Intent to Sue letter to EXP demanding they remove this account immediately. Additionally, I would state in my letter that EXP is aware of the actions of American Agencies and should investigate them immediately, and stop permitting them to do this sh*t. Or otherwise, face an additional lawsuit for their actions with accounts related to American Agencies.
