Wanted to say thanks to everyone here. Started the repair process in earnest in January with a 515 mid score. I couldn't have come even this far without you guys.

Checked my scores last night, saw a 585 mid and decided to take a chance on Target. Got a "app under review" answer, so was expecting a disheartening letter in a few weeks. Checked back today, though, and was approved!

This and my 2 yr old secured orchard are my only cards, so this was a HUGE first step for me.

Not sure what to do next, but I saw a post where someone suggested a high limit secured card would be good, so thinking about that.

Hoping in 6 mos or so to add a couple of unsecured cards to the stable...

Anyway, thanks again. Any advice on my plan would be welcome!

    Mike

    congratulations on your successes!

I know a few years back that a secured BOA worked wonders for my scores. I was able to put $1000 into a BoA savings account, and got the card, after 1 year of on-time payments, they removed the hold, and raised my CL to 2500$

Screw Target. After what they have done to the Salvation Army, not allowing them to set up in front of their stores during the Xmas season, I plan to boycott them until they reverse their inconsiderate stance.

The Salvation Army has done more to help people than Target has. Period.

I am here to shout thank YOU Shroud!

Oh Baby, Baby! I got an instant approval for a Target Guest Card, didn't even apply for the Visa to increase my odds.

The weirdness is that I was denied by Target on September 3rd, which wasn't a big shock to my system as I have a recent BK, no store cards and only two scum cc's (Orchard & CrossCountry). Also my address is a personal mailbox, so lots of creditors are suspicious.

But based on your success I thought I'd waste an inquiry and shock of my life I now have $200 towards Christmas gifts. Yeah, I know it's not alot, and I won't overspend as a result, but it's something to build on and that's all I needed to get my FICO up. My PG mid-score is 560.

    Happy HAPPY days!
