Help! After reading through many credit forums over the years I think I know what to do but I still feel a bit unsure. Here's my situation (For a summary, scroll down to the end):

    1. My name is spelled without the accent mark and a letter should be capitalized that isn't. I know some computers or whatever don't allow certain characters such as accent marks or apostrophes. Still it's misspelled.

    2. Citibank account #1 is listed as closed by the credit grantor when I actually closed the account. Date Opened-10/1997; High Credit-$680; Balance-$0; Date of Last Activity-11/2002; Current Status-Pays as Agreed; 60-89 Days Past Due(DPD)-10/1999, 12/1999, 12,2000; 90-119 DPD-11/1999, 1/2001; 120-149 DPD-2/2001, 3/2001

    3. Citibank Account #2 used to be an Associates National Bank Account. Date Opened-9/1999; Credit Limit-$500; Balance Amount-$1,315; Date of last payment-4/2001; Date of Last activity-9/2000; Charge off Amount-$1,266; Current Status-Charge Off; 30-59 DPD-12/1999, 4/2000, 7/2000, 10,2000; 60-89 DPD-11/2000; 90-119 DPD-12/2000; 120-149 DPD-1/2001, 2/2001, 3/2001; Charge Off-7/2004, 8/2004, 9/2004, 10/2004, 11/2004, 1,2005, 2/2005.

This account was charged off in 2001 I believe and 2 collection agencies contacted me between now and then but I haven't heard from one recently. I called Citibank and they said that their internal collections department could talk to me about the account. I haven't called yet. Should I assume Citibank probably took the account back? When they sent my account to a collection agency I had just set up a payment plan with them. When I found out what they had done, I put a stop on the future checks. Now here I am. I believe I should pay what I owe but I don't want to pay anybody but I want this to come off of my report ASAP. What should I do?

    4. Discover Account opened in 1996 with a $1,000 balance, never used, closed by me.

    5. Express opened in 1998 with $250 credit limit (actually $200), pays as agreed (currently, though I have had late payments that aren't listed here), Balance Amount-$0, Date of last Payment-1/2000 (actually some time in 2004), Actual Payment Amount-$16 (not true because this is not up to date), Date of last activity-1/2000

    6. Universal Card: Date opened-5/1998; High Credit-$2,000; Balance Amount-$0; Date of last activity-1/2003; Current Status-Pays as agreed; Account Paid/Zero Balance; Account Closed by credit grantor; 30-59 DPD-2/1999; 60-89 DPD-7/2000, 5/2001, 8/2001, 9/2001, 11/2001; 90-119 DPD-5/1999, 6/1999, 7/1999, 9/1999, 10/1999, 8, 2000; 120-149 DPD-8/1999

    My FICO score is 653.

Summary: I have an Express account in good standing that I've had since 1998 and a Discover card listed that had a $1,000 limit that I never used and eventually closed. I have a charged off Citibank card with a $500 balance and a charge off amount of $1,266. It was opened in 1999. First went delinquent some time in 2001 and they just started noting this in 2004. I think Citibank took back possession of the account from the collection agency. There's another Citibank card and a Universal Card (owned by Citibank now) that I paid off in 2001. I was late paying them at times. I first became past due with them in 1999 and as late as 2001. Finally my name is missing an accent mark and a letter should be capitalized that isn't.

SO, should I dispute a lot of the negative info? Is it better to have no negative info and a shorter credit history or more negative info with a longer credit history? Obviously the Express and Discover accounts can stay put. What's my course of action? PLEASE HELP!
