What credit card company do you think gives the worse customer service? I.e., rude people, unhelpful people, uncaring custmer service reps, etc?

I would have to say Strawbridges. The CSR had an attitude problem and wasn't helpful at all. She spoke purely and kept trying to get a superviser for me when I asked, but then kept making excuses. Her attitude was in fact so bad that I closed the acct even though I've had one for nearly 10 years.

    Worst credit card company service?
Hands down, I would have to say Providian.

I'd go with Chase. It's the only card in our portfolio that is associated with absolutely rude and uncooperative customer service.

Can't say that in my case, there's one company with consistantly good or bad service...

For me - at least - (Not for GEORGE, sadly) Amex has been pretty good, a notch above the others. Also Bank of America has fairly nice cs reps.

The only company i remember as being CONSISTANTLY rude and unpleasent was Nextcard - but they got theirs in the end.
Also - I had Fleet for a short while - and their cs reps weren't particularly nice, for the most part,

Actually - Providan - when I had them when i was just establishing my credit - were fairly pleasent to deal with - when i used the card alot - they cancelled the annual fee - but when i got better cards and used them less - they weren't willing to waive the fee - so I closed them - that was about two, three years ago. Their service may have gone downhill since then.

First Premier is actually quite good when it comes to customer service, they don't in most cases budge on CLI's or APR cuts, but the reps are otherwise very nice and the wait times are almost nil.

Providian, well I have never had complaints with any CSR I spoke to. For the most part, service is good and sometimes there is a wait, but it is usually not very long, so I think Providian customer service is a sold "B".

Cannot and will not give any kudos to Cross Country Bank. Absolutely THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE of any business I have ever dealt with.

Citi. Hmmmm, this is tough. It is about a 70/30 split here, 70% good, but the 30% is quite bad. Those CSR's can get downright mean. Although, credit where credit is due, the CSR's are good about lowering APR's and line increases.

I can agree with Cross Country Bank. Terrible.

But the worst for me was First Security Bank who was then bought by Wells Fargo. I think Wells Fargo as a whole is okay but I had major problems with 3-4 auto loan people. Lots of threats, followed by lots of promises, followed by lots of lost payments, papers and mail, followed by lots of doing nothing to fix the situation.

I am not overly impressed with B of A.

I have had good luck with Providian and First Premier and believe it or not, Cap1. We had a 30 day late payment in Feb. that after speaking with the CSR was never reported. Very nice.
