When you sign up for your free credit report it says somewhere that the there will be no inquiry added to your credit report, but in the section that is only visible to you. I just got a copy of my credit report today and it's an inquiry.

Now others have said that it, indeed, does NOT put a hard inquiry on your report. Are you sure that you are looking at the section that creditors see?

    Russ,

I guess you were lucky. Mine is on "The following companies have received your credit report. Their inquiries remain on your credit report for two year. (note: TU consumer disclosure inquiries are not viewed by creditors). "

And, I am not posting incorrect information.

Yours must be the ONLY one that has that inquiry like that. I would dispute it with worthknowing.com. Both myself and my wife both have the same inquiry type on our credit reports (non disclosed).

I also have an inquiry from worthknowing.com on my TransUnion report that will be viewed by creditors for the next two years. I received my TransUnion report today.
