Would someone be willing to read this dispute letter for me?

This is my FIRST dispute letter ever, and I want to be sure to get it right. If someone with experience would be so kind as to take a look and let me know if it fits the bill, I'd greatly appreciated. Thanks SO much!

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing today to dispute what I believe to be an inaccurate tradeline on my TransUnion Credit Report.

I am enclosing a copy of my TransUnion Credit Report that was obtained on December 28, 2006, as well as a copy that was obtained on September 4, 2007. In both instances, the tradeline(s) in question have been circled.

The following tradeline was reported on the Transunion Credit Report from 12/28/2007:

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

This tradeline very clearly states that it was estimated to be removed from my credit report in January, 2007.

As of today, September 7th, continues to be reported on my TransUnion Credit Report, although it has been either assigned or sold, and illegally re-aged. I am referring specifically to the following tradeline on the Credit Report that was obtained on September 4, 2006:

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Coincidentally, this tradeline reports that this account was opened in January, 2007; the exact same month that this account was estimated to be removed from my credit report. Likewise, XXXXXXXXX reports the date of last activity as June 2007, which is not accurate.

I hereby request that TransUnion investigate this tradeline within 30 days. You will find that the original date of delinquency on the account in question was over 7 years ago, and should therefore no longer be reported by TransUnion or any other Credit Reporting Agency.

As you know, credit reporting laws ensure that bureaus report only 100% accurate credit information. The tradeline in question is far from accurate, and should therefore be removed.

I appreciate your expedience in this matter and expect to hear from you within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

    Thank you,

Just my $.02 from the cheap seats...

I'd put the requested action at the top of the letter not at the bottom.
Then follow with supporting details and enclose copies of your supporting documentation.

However, it's not like anyone actually reads these letters (they are machine scanned and then processed electronically) so you might as well first try calling them to see what they can do over the phone. If no action, try their on-line dispute. In my experience with TU letters aren't any more or less effective than those two methods. The letter's only real value is if you need to include additional documentation or you want to use them as evidence in a lawsuit.

VERY good to know. I was wondering about the online dispute system. Perhaps I'll give it a shot.

    Thanks for the advice!

I also recommend trying the dispute on-line, just enter "Past Reporting SOL" for reason. Just make sure to print out hard copies of the dispute for your records.

    I would just paraphrase/add:
"I am writing to dispute an inaccurate tradeline on my TransUnion Credit Report, this account is past the reporting Staute of Limitations, and request its immediate removal."

I would take out "although it has been either assigned or sold,", i.e.
"As of today, September 7th, continues to be reported on my TransUnion Credit Report and illegally re-aged. I am referring specifically to the following tradeline on the Credit Report that was obtained on September 4, 2006: "

Just a few items, as per above, but it does work. Also note that they have thrity days from receipt of your dispute to complete an investigation, they are allowed mailing time from that date, so the "expect to hear from you within 30 days of receipt of this letter." should be amended.

Overall, very good for your first swing!
