Would there be any hope in a BBB complaint?

    First,
This board is the best thing that happened to my credit history! And, thank you to each and everyone on here who posts. There isn't one post that you can't learn SOMETHING from.

Just wondering what your thoughts are in filing a BBB complaint against the last and only CA on my records for partial debt validation only and for reporting to CRA during debt valiation. Any hope that they might fold under a BBB invest?

Its either that or DV one more time, which is the third time...

Or go ahead w/ intent to sue since they clearly don't want to send the original bill w/ statement of acct. Or DV w/ intent to sue?

A little overwhelmed here......I know I have violations for suit, but all I really want is the coll. acct. gone from my file. One last stinking file. Not three, just one.

Completely stressed out and needing some advice. I need this one gone. They seem to have access to records from the OC but don't want to provide them. I have worked so hard and so many hours at this I am in some kind of brain shut down mode.

Someone mentioned att. general. But there still is so much argument over which state I'm not sure about that. Original...Ohio. Current..AZ. I know SOL applies to time to sue of which I really don't think they will due because the amt. they say I owe isn't that large compared to some posts I've read and its almost past SOL. But, which state would you file complaint with..State debt was incurred??? or current state? Do they have to show proof they are allowed to continue to try and collect here in AZ?

Ok..that was way too many questions. I promise to try and keep my next post shorter. Thanks in advance

Funny you should mention the BBB. Just got my results back from a complaint I filed with them against a ca. I paid a ca last year for a small debt I owed for a medical bill. I then learned about cleaning up my credit report. I sent a letter(Certified of course) to the ca months later saying that the debt was already paid to the oc before it went to the them. I demanded that they delete my negative account or show my signature, 30 days no answer. I then filed a complaint with the BBB two weeks ago, explained the same thing, that this was already paid but now twice. I demanded they have the ca delete this and I would consider it settled and demand no money back. Got a response back today from the BBB. The ca deleted the negative as I confirmed with Equifax. The BBB is very helpful, so file a complaint.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. I have had a lot of success with the BBB but I haven't filed with them since doing a DV with this CA. Can't hurt...I'll give it a shot. Glad you had good resuts w/ it. Also, I just posted another thread on BBB. Cap 1 is a sponsor on BBB right now. If you have any beef w/ Cap1, BBB complaints are doing wonders right now. Good luck!

The problem with Citi is how huge of a corporation they are. The company I work for up till six months ago subcontracted services to Citi. They are penny pinching bastards that will do whatever they can to squeeze a penny out of you, regardless of your relationship with them.

I don't know how far it will get you, but I guess you could always fire off letters to their two main corporate offices in NY. 399 Park Avenue NYC, and 1 Court Square - Long Island City NY.

Wow. So, all these posts that say you can get a Citi card after BK..is that why? Because they are so huge?? Is it worth it?? I am going to need a card after all this is over...but I hear so many bad things about all of them...I just don't know which direction to head. I think I've decided and then...new post, new info, no decision.

I have tried everything, event sent letters to the Ceo bob willumstad, twice both certified, no way no how ever. They sent me copys of statments dating back from 2000 just so they wouldn't have to delete this. However they hate dealing with complaints against them with the OCC.

Alot is because people held cards with other banks that Citi swallowed up. In the NY market alone they took over a major player on Long Island a couple of years back. Then they took over a few other banks in California, Nevada, and Texas. And Citigroup itself has sooooo many different divisions....Citibank, Citibank (South Dakota), Citibank (Nevada), Citicorp, Citi Financial, Primerica, etc, etc. I don't even think that they themselves can keep up with all of it.

The only good that came from all of these take overs is that they became a tad more friendly to the average blue collar working class joe. Before all of this Citi was basically a bank that catered to business clients, and looked upon Mr. and Mrs. Average as a nuicanse.

The only good point about them being so huge is that it creates stability. I do my banking with them only because of the Citi-At-Work program that they have. Because of the relationship my company had with them (my company did their banking with Citi as well as contract work) Citi waived all minimums and service fees. And I'm happy to a point.

Their online banking is the best I've ever dealt with, and the transactions that you can perform at their ATM's are outstanding (international transfers, etc) Their telephone CS SUCKS. Dial Citi-Phone (EVERYTHING with them is Citi-something....even internally), and you're connected with Bombay. Eventually sometimes you can manage to get transferred to the US, and then it's not too bad. The staff at the financial centers--all a bunch of the most miserable bastards you ever met.

BBB and Atty General 1-2 Punch

I filed a one two punch bbb and atty general (both online) complaint and got my last 3 negs deleted.
I'm not sure which one did the trick, but hey, who cares!?
As long as it is off, I am happy!

You might as well try it, it doesn't cost anything but a few moments of your time.

    Good luck

I just complained to the one in my state.
If I were you, I would file complaints in both states, as well as the state where your creditor is doing business.

One other note, my negs were also zero balance accounts FYI.

Oh, this is not a $0 bal. neg, but CA acct. did not provide sufficient DV. So....what do ya think?

    I say it's still worth a shot.
Give it a try and see what happens.
Take it one small step at a time.
    Good luck

One of my most stubborn deletions came from a *THICK* BBB complaint.

After 10 months of disputing the account, and providing proof from the Federal Trade Commission that the alleged original creditor had created the account fraudulently. The account would keep being verified.

Well, finally (to quote Denzel Washington in Philadelphia) via the BBB I explained it to them as if they were a 2 year old; took them paragraph by paragraph of the FTC letter; the letter which the FTC required the company to send to the AFFECTED CONSUMERS; the complaint; the settlement; and the frequently asked question regarding the settlement.

It took the BBB over two weeks to go through the complaint, but magically, the day after the BBB's "we sent your complaint to the company", I received the deletion results.
