    Hi all

I am new to these boards so please bear with me. I have scoured the other messages but couldn't find an answer so was wondering if you could help.

We recently moved from CA to MN and was shocked at the increase in insurance - turns out it is becasue of a derogatory comment on Experian relating to an installment loan. Knoing that we have NEVER defaulted on any loan we pulled the EX credit report only to find there are a number of things on there that do not tie up. Please bear in mind that there is an ex wife that was charged with stealing his identity ( these are on there but say account was closed because card lost / stolen and they are on the 'in good standing' page) and there is also someone who lived in the same town as he did with the same name and birthdate. This may explain some of the listings on there but, as they are nothing to do with him, how can we get rid of them.

Also, there are items on there that appear to be old accounts but have recent dates on them too....how can that be if he has never paid or so much as got in touch with these companies. I don't know how the SOL works and what date it is counted from.

I am sorry but, having only recently moved to the US, I am unfamiliar with how the credit reporting system works here other than bits and pieces I have read. Do they not have to prove it was him - he has never dealt with or signed anything with any of these companies so I can't see how they can do so.

Hope someone can help with this - I really do not know where to begin.

If you need any more info please ask.

    Many thanks.
